DQ6 Global Economics

Using the Library Information Resource Network (LIRN), JSTOR, or any other electronic journal database, research eight (8) peer-reviewed articles that can be used to answer the below assignment. Your discussion should summarize the articles in such a way that it can justify any arguments you may present in your below assignment and should be different from the abstract. In addition to your researched peer-reviewed article, you must include an example of the article researched as it is applied by industry (company, business entity, and so forth).

Please note: This article summary should not be the only article researched for your below assignment. You may (and should) have several other articles researched to fully answer your  below assignment. The concept of this DQ is to allow students to be proactive in the research necessary to complete this assignment. You may use your article summary, partially or in its entirety in your below assignment.

Important: Please ensure that your reference for the article is in correct APA format, as your reference in your discussion post. Depending on which electronic database you use, you should see a “Cite” selection for your article. In addition, there should be a variety of articles summarized and as such, students should have different articles summarized. Your summary MUST include ALL of the following in your DQ post (include every item in the bullet list below, or you will not receive full credit):

Do these in order:

  • In correct APA format, write the Reference of the article.
  • Clearly state what the article is about and its purpose.
  • Describe how you will use it in your upcoming assignment.
  • Repeat for a total of eight (8) peer-reviewed sources.

The Context

Is the 4-day workweek a good idea? In this assignment you will discuss this topic within a Canadian context. This assignment gives you an opportunity to read and critically assess divergent points of view and to present your findings in a short report.

The Approach

Several articles on the 4-day workweek are provided for your below.

  1. Skim the articles so that you can obtain an overview of the pros and cons of implementing a 4-day workweek.
  2. Determine how many articles are pro a 4-day work week, how many are anti a 4-day workweek, and how many are undecided about a 4-day workweek.
  3. Select at least 8 articles from the list on which you will base your report. Ensure that your selection includes all three perspectives and that the articles you selected are current. If you need to, continue to find more relevant sources.
  4. Use the information gleaned from the articles to write a report on the 4-day workweek. In your report, establish a clear position on the topic; provide critical analysis, and include thoughtful recommendations.

The Structure

Prepare a 5 to 7-page report that includes the following sections.

Title Page: Use APA Style and include your name, course code & section, and the date. Title your report with an informative title. Do not use Writing Assignment 2.

Part 1: Introduction

Create a context for your report by

  • explaining the purpose and scope of your report,
  • previewing your discussion, and
  • referring to your research.

Part 2: Discussion Details

Evaluate the arguments for or against a 4-day workweek implementation

Consider these elements:

  • the evidence and rationale
  • any gaps or unanswered questions
  • how the organization and format of individual articles may enhance or detract from readability

Part 3: Conclusions and Recommendations

Conclude your report by

  • briefly summarizing your discussion details,
  • recommending which policies should be implemented,
  • recommending areas for further research.

References List: Use APA Style

Submission Requirements

  • Upload an electronic copy to the Assessment Tab on eCentennial before the deadline; the file will automatically be scanned by Turnitin. A 10%-per-day late penalty will apply.
  • Use APA 7th Edition for this assignment.
